Rules of Sawan (Sawan Ke Niyam)

According to the scriptures, devotees should avoid eating brinjal during the month of Sawan because many people consider this vegetable impure. Apart from this, people who observe fast during this period should also not consume milk.

The religious belief behind this is that milk is used to anoint Bhole Baba, hence its consumption is prohibited. In this month, devotees should also avoid consuming meat, alcohol, onion and garlic.

Importance of Sawan Monday and Shiva Puja (Sawan Somwar Vrat)

Shiva should be worshipped on every Monday of the month of Sawan. Special benefits can be gained by keeping a fast on this day and meditating on Lord Shiva.

This fast is observed to please Lord Shiva. In this fast, food is eaten only once a day after worshipping Lord Shiva. Along with this, wearing Gauri-Shankar Rudraksha around the neck is also considered auspicious.

Bhole Baba is considered to be the most simple and innocent among all the gods. He is worshipped with great devotion in Hindu religion. It is believed that by observing a fast of Shiv Ji in Sawan, unmarried girls get their desired groom and unmarried boys get their desired bride.

Monday is worshipped for the worship of Lord Shiva and especially for marital life. If there is no possibility of marriage in the Kundli or there are difficulties in getting married, then a vow should be taken and a fast should be observed on Sawan Somwar.
